A bird of prey in the tower hide at Attenborough. (1 Viewer)

Ok whilst attempting to spot the short eared owl I think I saw yesterday, this appeared in the skies above me. I’ve managed to get a video. Hope someone can help me with a definite ID this time😅

Oh. Too large to be uploaded. God damn. Let me see if I can crop it!

Ok I’ve taken a screen shot from the video. Does this help?

Looks like female sparrowhawk

Ok I’ve cropped it to the last 8 seconds Hopefully this is more helpful.

I did have my binos on it at points before this video and can say that it had a distinctive reddish undertail.

Edit: I thought it was a marsh harrier but stand corrected and will learn to keep my mouth shut so as not to make a fool of myself so quickly in future😁

If someone wants me to email them the whole video I’m happy to do so.

I’m always going to be indebted to anyone who offers possible identification to me. And even conflicting opinions are valuable to me.

I will say though that a hobby would definitely match what I saw through the binoculars! There was a definite red hue to the underside between chest and tail.

It always helps to mention at the outset distinctive features you saw in the field, in this case that information and the video point to Hobby.
