A flock of adult and immature waxwings decided to give the mountain ash berries a taste yesterday. A very dull gray day so the light was terrible, and wish I had been closer.

I showed you the three Waxwings a bit ago. But going through the set of pictures, there was one frame that captured a fly-through.... wing!!! But where's the head.... where's the body!!!?
There was nothing in the frames before or...
The beginning of January the Waxwings came back.
It was so disappointing for me though, as this was the closest tree to me, but the morning was so dark and raining there was no chance of any detail.
There must have been getting on for 200 of them that day... more in other trees.
No point in...
Such beautiful winter visitors; they first turned up within site of my sitting room window, in poor light of course with the sun behind! Then they all flew off.
I had to go shopping so took my camera in case I managed to find them again. And there they were in my car park!!!

Once again, sorry for the quality. (Dull day, poor light, bridge camera, you know, the usual whining. lol!)
I'm not sure if these birds over winter in my part of the world. I thought they migrated south from in the fall, but they keep turning up here. There were 5 or 6 of these young waxwings...
Cycled up to MacDonalds Whittlesford (Cambs) looking for (my first!) waxwings as reported on Cambridge Birds website. To my surprise at 10.00am this morning I found a flock of 30 sitting in the sunshine. They hung around for 20 mins then flew off towards Whittlesford.
Sorry, don't get excited, this was taken in January... still no waxwings down my way this winter. But in anticipation of maybe some arriving, thought I'd get in with an image now, especially as not been out with the camera for a while. Wonder what they're gossiping about.... :)
I feel waxwings should have a exclamation mark after it. I was so excited, after many trips out in the area to look for them, they came to me! I came home from work and they were in a tree in MY road. Then the dilema - just look or risk going for the camera- you know what I decided : )
