    This is a female of the Falkland (C. p. leucoptera) race. It is larger and darker than mainland females and has broader, better defined ventral barring.

    Upland goose family on the Falkland Islands. Male white and black, female brown. They are territorial, just spreading themselves evenly all over the moorland. They are eaten by the islanders. I found the taste rather bland, slightly earthy and definitely not salty.
