    Hovering

The amount of energy these guys spent trying to hover under the feeder was amazing. They do have the ability to grasp and hang from the underside of the feeder to get something, but they only do it a small percentage of the time. It seems they'd rather do it this way,

    Common Starling

These guys might give the Jays a run for their money. The last few days they have been infiltrating the yard in larger numbers, attacking the suet cakes and peanut butter stashes. It's always interesting to see which one will back down when they confront one another at the feeders.

In the fall, the burning bush in our yard produces flaming leaves, and small berries, which several birds eat. Including this starling. I've also seen Grouse, American Robins and Waxwings going at them.
