    When you've an itch

The last picture from that day was a Laughing Dove I found on my way back to the house. This species has been introduced to Australia, they're actually an African species.

    Similar but different

Back at home in the garden were a Common Bronzewing and Laughing Dove - they look quite pally, don't they. The sun was at just the right angle to produce some very pretty iridescence on the wing of the Bronzewing, and that's how he gets the name of course.
  4. A Joke?

    A Joke?

There were a couple of Laughing Doves (presumably a pair) - I only just noticed this one as he walked out from that deep shadow behind him.
  5. Two of a kind

    Two of a kind

Moving along the fence and I came to (presumably) a pair of Laughing Doves. Rather pretty birds these, even though they look 'brown'. These have been introduced to Australia sadly, but at least it allowed me to get another species on my trip list.

Keeping the Bronzewing company was a Laughing Dove (there you go KC... a dove for you today;)) This was the only picture I got of him away from the bronzewing LOL This is an introduced species.

    Comical?

Oh no! I don't really think so. But he is supposed to be Laughing, isn't he!! LOL Alex had put a tray of feed out on the lawn, but he was struggling to get in due to the press of Red-capped Parrots around it.

Another new species for me on our return. These Laughing Doves are one of two species which have been introduced to Australia; this one confined to Western Australia. It also completes a page in my guide book, so a bit of a milestone, all 6 of them!!! Rather pretty birds, aren't they.
