Not wholly welcome, in that they take food intended for Goldfinches and other small birds. But they're photogenic, both species are doing well here, and in any case, according to the Natural History Museum (London): “Tawny owls, sparrowhawks and peregrine falcons will all feast on parakeets...

Heard this male squawking 20 feet from my closed window, and it stayed put while I opened the window and fired off noisy bursts of shots. Not a "secretive" species. Thanks for your comments, stay safe and well. John

Apparently, in parts of London Peregrines now take more Parakeets than Feral Pigeons (which may be welcome news for those who don't like their loud squawks and tendency to monopolise feeders. I'm staying neutral). Thank you for your comments, stay safe and well, and good birding! John

    Ring-necked Parakeet (Psittacula krameri)

This pair has a nest hole in a dead tree close by, one they have used for a number of years now. These birds are becoming more numerous in Lancashire as is all the three Egret species. Birders in Northern England would have been crying out to see some of the once rare birds a decade or so ago...

    Dancing Parakeets

Encountered this rowdy gang of parakeets by Heathrow as the sun was setting; anyone might think this is a composite shot of one bird but they are four individuals flitting from one tree to the next.
