On a walk down a very isolated gravel road that cut deep into some woods yesterday, I heard the unmistakable call of the Red Tailed Hawk. I spotted it high up in a fairly distant tree. It seemed very upset with my presence, could there be a nest with young nearby? As it was very agitated, I...
I'm going to have to do a lot more road cruising to find birds now, as I'm temporarily closed due to hawks. After finding the remains of three mourning doves in the yard inside of a week, no, the feeders have to come down for a bit. As I was outside taking them down, he chose to pick on the...

I was primarily trying for a vulture photo because they had been buzzing around my place quite a bit that day but instead, this red-tailed beauty appeared from behind a pine treetop and flew directly overhead. Made my day.
