    Very very pleased to see this bird at the Puerta Princessa underground river park in Palawan. Had already seen a bird skulking in the undergrowth, an hour later we found a courting pair, this male sat right out in the open.

    Uncommon winter visitor/passage migrant to Singapore. It was standing about 2 meters from me and gave the best pose. No cropping done. But too bad there was a small seedling in front of the Pitta which spoiled the image. Just love the red panty it is wearing.

    I can't think of more interesting bird families then Pittas. Very difficult to spot. Always in dark places. Mostly on the forest floor. Lovely and easy to identify calls. Striking colors. This is my first shot of Hooded Pitta. A wet season breeding visitor in Thailand.
