    Palm-nut Vulture

    Sometimes called "Vulturine Fish Eagle," this is an adult. These vultures are unique in their own genus. They feed mostly on palm fruit but this one was dining on crabs and mollusks along the shore. They also scavenge for carrion, and small mammals.

    The alternative name of this bird is the Vulturine Fish Eagle. This eagle-like bird shuns the bloody scrums of carcases that other vultures favour & instead prefers the flesh of the Oil palm fruits & fish -sometimes picked from the water surface but more often dead.

    Vulturine Fish Eagle

    Alternatively known as Palm-nut Vulture this raptor scavenges frequently but also eats the flesh of palm-nuts when in season. It will pick dead fish off the water surface much in the same manner as a Sea Eagle but tends to shy clear of vulture gatherings around large carcases.
