    These birds are fierce. I have seen them chase or bite cats. Sometimes too when I see a Bird of Prey he will be chasing them too. I don't know if they are just plain brave or just love the rush they get being so dangerous.

    Many of these talented imitators abound near my new home. I think I heard one mimicking a frog this evening. I had gone for a walk with my camera, which turned up no interesting subjects, until this little guy posed for me on these photogenic branches. Light was fading as the sun set into haze...

    I don't have the volume of birds or different breeds I'm used to, but I still have it made owning my backyard, my private sanctuary.

    This juvenile mockingbird just started showing up at my feeder. I never saw him before until I recently added raisins to their menu. It looks like he's also been munching on the poke berries in my yard.

    I don't know what to make of these birds they are either incredibly brave or have no common sense. The reason I say this is I have seen them chase Red-shouldered Hawks on many occasions. Beautiful singers and in my humble opinion pretty in their gray plumage.

    Famous for their mimicry, male Northern Mockingbirds sometimes "skylark," leaping into the air singing exuberantly. They then parachute down with wings open. As seen here, their white wing patches are conspicuous during these flight displays which are given mostly by unmated males...
