    Golden-crowned Kinglet

Yesterday I learned that there was a Golden-Crowned Kinglet. I had previously only known of the Ruby-Crowned Kinglet and Golden-Crowned Sparrow.

    Which Kinglet? Camano Washington State

Seen last week at the Cama Beach State Park, up the slope in the heavy woods with undergrowth. Only photo. The bird was not at all interested in having its picture taken and was a bit everywhere. Many thanks!

Ruby-Crowned Kinglet; St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

My brother and I were in Pippy Park this afternoon and he took this picture of this songbird. I think it may be a female Ruby-Crowned Kinglet. Would anyone agree?

    View from the kitchen window

Nice to be able to watch this little beauty from inside my sister's kitchen while visiting her in Co. Sligo, Ireland in September
  7. Spider!

    Spider!

Didn't quite get it focused on the kinglet, but I like this shot anyway. Tiny bird with its tinier prey.
  8. Interesting Angle

    Interesting Angle

Kinglets don't make it easy to get a good, flattering photo of them. Especially not while actively foraging between branches. This is the only properly focused photo I got of this one.

    Golden-crowned Kinglet

You may be wondering how I got so close to the bird. It bumped into a window and was partly stunned. It allowed me to walk right up to it!

    Ruby-Crowned Kinglet

Taken near the Sundial Bridge (Redding, CA, USA). Another new one for us. We were seeing these everywhere but they rarely sit still. As it was I had to rescue this one with Photoshop to even get a decent one to show!
  20. Ruby-crowned Kinglet

    Ruby-crowned Kinglet

I finally got one of these little guys to sit still long enough to get a pretty good portrait.
  21. Goldcrest

Barley able to see this little traveler, suprisingly unafraid of my presence.
  23. Ruby-crowned Kinglet

    Ruby-crowned Kinglet

These guys are pretty hard to catch setting still, and I'm still trying to get a shot of one with that "Ruby Crown" shining. I have seen that ruby flash many times, but never when I was pointing a camera at one : )

  25. Ruby-crowned Kinglet

    Ruby-crowned Kinglet

Surely not my best photograph, but probably my best effort because these guys WILL NOT sit still. This little fellow eluded my lens for 2 seasons and from time to time, I would get a glimpse of that little flash of red on top of his head while looking for other birds, and for the longest time...
