This was taken on the Farne Islands in June. Can't wait until the nesting season again...
  2. Local red kite yesterday

    Local red kite yesterday

This is one of the red kites I'm attempting to photograph for the RSPB and the Northern Kites project. I'm getting better at catching them, but am still not happy with the photos. Maybe tomorrow...

  8. Pied kingfisher fishing off a log, Chobe River, Botswana

Pied kingfisher fishing off a log, Chobe River, Botswana

This kingfisher was fishing off a log on the Chobe River in Botswana. I can't remember whether it was a male or female as you can't see it's chest. The males have two black bars across the breast compared with the female's one.
  9. Arctic tern on Farne Islands

    Arctic tern on Farne Islands

Arctic tern on Farne Islands. This is why you've got to wear a hat on the Farne Islands in summer!
