Shikra or Sparrowhawk? Tajikistan last week

This photo was taken in Dushanbe, Tajikistan last week. I think I can see a hint of yellow orbital ring that would make this a Eurasian Sparrowhawk rather than a Shikra but would like confirmation or correction.

Help with loon ID - Sonoma County, CA, USA

Hi all, I have been going back and forth on these loons I saw from shore in Bodega Bay, CA a couple of weeks ago (June 28). There were two groups of loons, both a few hundred yards out, one single loon, and then a group of 5 in a different spot. I think they are of two different species, but...

Taken this morning off Carrapateira, Western Algarve. I assumed this to be Cory's Shearwater but seems to have white webs on the inner primaries and also seems quite clean underwings. So might this be Scopoli's?

Hi all, I've seen this Crested Lark in Marrakech last week. I think it is only the range of Crested Lark but the bill is so long that I've a doubt. What do you think and are you aware of any records of Maghreb Lark north of the High-Atlas mountains ? THANKS.

    Eagle ID- South Africa

A few months ago I was in Kruger National Park in South Africa. One evening, I managed to get a picture of this eagle perched on a branch, near Timbavati, however I am unsure of its ID. I was wondering if it was either Tawny Eagle or a Steppe Eagle or perhaps something else? Many thanks DD

    Raptors western central Thailand

First looks like Nisaetus in Mae Wong, the pattern both striated then barred suggests Blyth's Hawk-Eagle, but the tail and range don't really fit... so maybe Mountain or Crested Hawk-Eagle? Second looks like Imperial eagle to me, near Petchaburi. Third is much smaller, maybe Booted eagle, but...

Black-Headed or Bonaparte's Gull Central NJ

Is either one of these birds a black-headed gull? I've read up a bit on differences but I'm still not sure. Do Bonaparte's ever have red on their beaks at all or are they always black? Both the bird in flight and the bird on the water show some red. Thanks

Help with nightjar ID (shot in Mexico)

I recently took this photo of a nightjar in the Yucatán Peninsula I am having trouble deciding if it’s a Common Pauraque or a Yucatán Poorwill. Nonbreeding Mallard or Hybrid? (Central FL)

So I've seen this duck around a local pond before and I was just curious, is this a mallard in between breeding and nonbreeding plumage, or is it some kind of hybrid? In general, is there a good way to tell the difference? I'm not very experienced with identifying ducks and potential hybrids, so...

Tips for Identifying Mallard vs Mottled vs Black Ducks

Hey all, I've been having a hard time telling the differences between these three ducks. Help with identifying vulture species from Bandhavgarh National Park, India

On the "Tiger" episode of BBC's Dynasties, we see a flock of vultures. I'm not sure if they are Indian/long-billed vultures, or Himalayan or Eurasian griffons. Moreover, in the wide shot, there is at least one vulture with a darker coat but the details are hard to make out; could this be a...
