    There was a family group foraging in the garden of our holiday accommodation.

    We had an overnight stop at Western Flora, a large block of natural sandplain bushland. The wildflowers are spectacular at this time of the year, attracting many insects. This bee was unlucky.

    There is a reserve with a walking and cycling track that follows a local motorway. Move 25 metres from the path and the bushes are alive with these tiny birds. Wait and they'll pose.

    These baby superb fairy-wrens were quite happy for me to get close enough to take this shot.     Male eclipse They seem to have had a good year with lots of juveniles in the group, the last couple of years they produced 2-3 juveniles but this year it looks like about 5-7 juveniles.
