Mountain vs. Western Bluebird - Pitkin County, Colorado, USA

I’m curious if this is a female Mountain or Western Bluebird. The pattern of the slight rufous across the breast has me wondering if it could be Western. In rufous type Mountain Bluebirds, I typically see the rufous extending up the throat of the bird. Thanks!

I've never seen an eastern bluebird until I moved into my new home. It's almost surreal knowing that beautiful shade of blue is natural!. I am lucky enough to have a wide variety of birds come visit my yard. Currently have spotted 51 different types of birds and counting. We live on a mountain...

Caught this adult male bluebird in the backyard the other day. Another test for the new R7, shot through the basement window. I did not expect this much critical sharpness from the image. When I opened it up in my PP software I was shocked. Dang this camera AI autofocus is proving to be...

This past year has been one of a few bird-sighting firsts for me, now with an Eastern bluebird. Lived here all my life and have just never run across one. They're primarily insect eaters but in the winter when food is scarce they feed on berries, like this little guy feasting on Christmas holly...

Took its first flight 10 days earlier. Still traveling around with Mom and Pop, finding some food on its own, but not above begging. Had a sibling that I haven't seen for a day or two.
