Dan Lane has submitted a proposal (#473, 22 Nov 2010) to AOU-SACC to separate Aratinga hockingi and A alticola from A mitrata (following Arndt 2006), but recommends rejection.

IOC recognised A hockingi Hocking's Parakeet and A alticola Chapman's Parakeet with effect from World Bird List v1.5 (Jan 2008).

Cornell/Clements 6th Edition (2007) also followed Arndt 2006. But subsequent alignment with AOU taxonomy at species level (v6.3, Dec 2008) left a partial implementation: A alticola was lumped with A mitrata, A hockingi Arndt 2006 was deleted, but A m chlorogenys Arndt 2006 and A m tucumana Arndt 2006 were retained.
