    A blue-eared kingfisher

    This tiny bird was sat on the tree next to the stream. It was still for a while, but we were on the other side of the river. It is a beautiful bird with stunning contrast between the blue and orange. The area was in deep shade and hence it was a challenging shot.

    I have only seen these frogmouth as pairs and in Thattekad. Despite knowing where they are, I would struggle to find them again. They sit in trees with clumps of dried leaf, blending in so well its hard to spot them. Sometimes, I have lost them whilst adjusting my camera, though they have not...

    I see you!

    My first Sri Lanka Bay Owl in the forest around Thattekad, Kerala. Quite a dense and dark jungle. It did not seem bothered, but kept a close watch on us.

    Need some help ID this bird which I saw on 8th Jan 24. It sat like a chat, but I am not sure what it is. The area it was in was a scrub patch next to a lake (Achankulam lake). Thanks for your help. Jaysan p.s. Just to add, there was a male pied bushchat near by. Could this be a female?
