Can anyone recommend a good information service to follow for rare bird sightings in Spain? Rare birds in Spain etc don’t seem to be up to date. Thanks in advance.

    Algarve birding

Cycle While we didn’t do the whole distance I’d be surprised if it pushed you on to the N125. I’m confident we could have got to the Quinta de Marim without encountering the N125. Even where we turned back you could see the track stuck along the coast .It’s part of a much longer ride and our...

    Algarve birding

Cycling Just returned from that area, there is a great cycle route which is well signposted and runs between the coast and the N125. We only cycled half way from Tavira to Olhao. Should be able to cycle the full distance in 1.5 - 2 hours. Expect to be distracted by the birding on your way. Also...

    Pedras del Rei

Just had a winter sun break here with some leisurely birding. Saw the Franklin’s gull at the nearby salt pans on four occasions always on the same pool, still there on the 4th March. Quite a few Blackcap,Chiffchaff and a scattering of Bluethroat. Had a brief view of what looked like a male Hen...

North England Birds, Late Spring/Early Summer

Give Wykham a go from around the last ten days of May onwards. I think Seamer is the nearest train station roughly eight miles away. Best to get to the watch point by mid morning to increase your chances. Good chance of getting one or the other of the raptor species. Keep an eye on the info...

    Red Billed Tropic Bird

Thanks for the replies, should have said I'll be going in February so think that rules the Feurteventura birds out. I know they are on there but don't know the site. Trying to avoid long haul flights as I'm doing one in January but will look at the other suggestions. Phil

Only developers have the right of appeal against planning decisions objectors have never had that right . Even if it had been refused again the government can call it in and over rule the decision which is what happens if the locals don't make the "right" decision, all part of the rigged system...

Info and advice: Whitby to Bempton/Flamborough - October

Not wishing to dampen your expectations but remember weather conditions play a vital role. But in October you should pick up a few things at least. Sea watching is generally better the first few hours after dawn and the last two before dark. At Flamborough people sit on top near the fog station...

The Sylvia was thought to be an aberrant Garden Warbler by some but never fully resolved or submitted and I think the Snipe was a Common which is why it was not submitted. I found the Snipe but did not put any news out because I couldn't ID it has a great and photo's seem to confirm this. Phil

Seawatching at Flamborough I can help you with the seawatching if you want to mail me. August is a good month and you have a chance of a good variety of birds. Early morning and evenings are usually best. Will you have a car ? You might want to consider staying at Scarborough, plenty of...
