Thanks all for the comments "Do what other people do, take 1000 flight shots and find the one in focus :)" I'll try that but I'm falling at the hurdle before the focus one, just getting them in the bloody viewfinder would be a major triumph. I think I just lack the patience

    Red-rumped swallow

Gave up trying to capture one of these in flight - I simply don't have the skills. Just waited for one to land in the end. In deep shade inevitably.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I thought Buzzard initially but I see them at lot at home and can't match the wing patterns to either Honey or Common Buzzard - not in Collins anyway.

Terrible photo from long range taken near Kotor in Montenegro. Can anyone ID please. Thought it might be a Golden eagle but seems unlikely

Last one - for today anyway

Amazing to have this chap in the garden when we have scooted off to numerous West Cornwall locations in search of good views and decent pictures
  10. Disco bunting

    Disco bunting

My resident snow bunting seems to be dancing to a tune I couldn't hear

There'sno bunting like a snow bunting

Lucky enough to have had this chap in and around the garden for the last couple of days so took the opportunity to get a few pics - which I am going to subject forum members to for a while

Another shot of the obliging RS hawk

Juvenille Red shouldered Hawk - I think

If only our birds of prey in the UK were as relaxed as their US cousins. This obliging bird was utterly unperturbed by my clumsy fieldcraft
  14. Coal tit

    Coal tit

Finally got one to sit still long enough to get a shot
  15. Mistle thrush

    Mistle thrush

Thought it worth sharing this handsome bird
  16. Green Heron

    Green Heron

A very obliging and relaxed subject who was, despite my blundering fieldcraft, completely unconcerned by my presence.
  17. Osprey with garfish

    Osprey with garfish

After a hot (and fruitless) day traipsing through the rain forest this guy turns up over our accomodation while I am relaxing with a well earned beer - luckily the camera was still handy. A bit distant unfortunately but pleased to have a record
  18. Antillean Crested Hummingbird (Juvenile/Female?)

    Antillean Crested Hummingbird (Juvenile/Female?)

Saw plenty of males on a recent trip to Grenada (no decent images though) but would be grateful for confirmation that this is an AC Hummingbird.
  19. Godwit (Bar-tailed but I stand to be corrected)

Godwit (Bar-tailed but I stand to be corrected)

Had no idea until recently how common these are in our area. I'm going to make an effort to get a better shot now I know where to find them
  20. Little Grebe

    Little Grebe

A little grebe, a little too far away for a decent shot, but the closest I could get on the day

Really like this one Ian - and I know where you took it. I'm off there straight away - well maybe when the mercury creeps above numbingly cold. Beautiful shot
