    Monovid Objective Cover

Thank you for the information in this valuable review! I was having trouble finding the right size cap for my Monovid before I stumbled on this. Now I can wear it on my neck lanyard all day long without worrying about scratches. Thanks again.

Thank you, that is what I shall do then. Since I got a good price to begin with (I talked the seller down significantly from the asking price), I would be willing to spend a couple hundred dollars if I were reasonably certain of getting the problem fixed. Otherwise, back it goes. It would be...

Oh, I’m not so very kind, believe me! There are problems with this seller, but me worrying about being able to return this item is not one of them. The terms are 30 days Money Back Seller pays for return shipping in addition to eBay’s guarantee in case of dispute. No, this fellow is a...

A more expert person probably could. Is there a way for a newbie like me to reliably tell the difference? I have agreed with the seller to keep looking at the item through the weekend before making up my mind.

Follow-up question, if I may: How does said tarnish to the prism silvering present? What I’m seeing looks slightly brownish, I would say, which made me think of wildfire haze. It is even more noticeable looking through the eyepieces, where it appears more uneven.

Yeah, “wiping the prisms” sounded suspect to me! If the serial number table that I found here is accurate, these are 61 years old. The left side is still perfect and the right could be considered acceptable for that age. I’m not a perfectionist, but the description said “glass is clean inside...

Seller responded: “only thing those ever need is the prisms wiped ...a good camera store can do that. use them for the weekend ..give it some time” What do you experienced forum members think?

These arrived a day earlier than expected. Yay for the Post Office, the only government service mandated by the constitution! Externally, they are every bit as nice as the photos on eBay indicated. I’m disappointed in the optics, though. The lefthand glass is popping, flawless, but the right...

Beginning to acquire more vintage Leitz glasses, a long-time goal

Lesson learned. The unit still works flawlessly, it just smells funny, so I guess I got off easy.

Thanks for that. I kept them for too long in my glove compartment, to be ready for any avians or quadrupeds I might spot. (Occasionally I look at bipeds too, but they mostly disappoint.) The heat that develops in a car in summertime Arizona is what I assume triggered the offgassing. Does anyone...

Yes, I wondered about the covers. Good to have them, in any case. Are any aftermarket eyecups made to fit this glass?

Greetings from central mountain Arizona. I found this place while looking for information on Leitz Trinovid serial numbers; nothing else on the web comes close to the information I discovered here. Have just had my offer accepted for an early Trinovid 10x40 that I found on eBay (see attached...
