    More distinctly marked than typical of Crested’s, shorter stubbier bill, shorter wings and tail. Bill also appears slightly convex while Crested’s typically have concave bills.

    No, appears fine for an adult. I believe most 1st year birds will have reached adult plumage by now anyway. Especially for the last images, artefacts or the image editing is why the bird seems paler. Also congrats on the lifer.

    Common Goldeneye for the first bird, second looks like a Herring gull cannot tell if the face pattern is just the result of image artefacting or just a strange individual. .
