Why can't Swarovski get a little thing right? NL Objective cover issues.

I have not had the problem with the objective covers tearing since remembering not to lay the Nls on the hinge. Laying them horizontally on the opposite side or vertically seems to have fixed the problem for me. Or perhaps, the most recent batch of objective covers that Swarovski sent have...

I'm sorry, but the Curios aren't serious bins

There is no need for ANY alpha optics, especially, when you can't appreciate their quality, and when lesser quality optics will do the job for you, nearly or just as well.

I'm sorry, but the Curios aren't serious bins

Dennis, I totally agree with your assesment of the Papilio, except its view isn't quite as bright as the Curio. As far as its focusing knob, the Papilio has the smoothest of any focusing knob on any binocular I have ever used regardless of price. I still prefer my VP 8x25 over both the Curio...

    Is it just me?

I just had cataract surgery. Any upgrade from an ordinary binocular to an alpha can't compare to the upgrade in my vision following this surgery. A fog has been lifted and has been replaced by a clarity with colors popping again, like I can't even remember. Even ordinary binos after surgery...

    Is it just me?

When I look at a review (opinion) of any binocular posted here, I always look at the bottom line of the review. Did the reviewer spend more than a few minutes evaluating them, and in spite of his complaints, decide to keep them, anyway? If so, it is obvious that the virtues, even if not...

    Is it just me?

I just don't get it. Why are we worrying if Swarovski gets picked on for any perceived fault? Is any product perfect, no matter how much it costs? People posting their experience with Swarovski or any other binocular are just giving their opinion. I can't imagine anyone making a decision, to...

Swarovski Curio 7x21 versus Victory 8x25 and Ultravid 8x20

I can't share your view that the Curio has a more immersive image than the VP. I lived with the Curio for a few weeks before trying the VP, the reverse order that you have done. With the eye cups fully extended on the VP, perhaps the AFOV is cut off somewhat, but that shouldn't be the case when...

SFL 8x30 - just arrived, some first impressions.

Can anyone provide a photo comparing the size of a VP8x25 to the SFL8x30?

Would you get an NL Pure 32mm if you already had a 42, or maybe something else?

I can easily one hand my VP8x25 and keep it steady enough. However, I woould agree that the larger FOV of the Nl may come in handier for finding the sweet spot with which to aim your scope. I still don't think I would like lugging the weight and bulk of all the equipment you lug around.

Would you get an NL Pure 32mm if you already had a 42, or maybe something else?

I don't own a scope, but if I did, I might consider the VP 8x25. I own both the 8x42Nl, which I bought initially, but then stepped up to the 12x42Nl, which I use much more often than the 8x. When I really want a lighter binocular for extended carrying, I use my VP 8x25. Even though its FOV...

Eye Relief problems in ZV pocket?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and my opinion vastly differs from yours. The diopter on my recently purchased 8x25 VP has yet to move from its set position. The solution to using the VP without glasses is to simply rest the extended eye cups on the orbital ridges near your eyebrows...

How do you feel about your NL 8x42 a year or two down the line?

But don't you agree that weight is an additional factor in steadying a binocular, especially weight that is distributed more towards the front end of the binocular? I find, then, the binocular wanting to move away from my eyes and more difficult to steady. I would rather have the weight...

How do you feel about your NL 8x42 a year or two down the line?

It's not just a matter of magnification that determines whether I can hold a binocular steady or not. The actual size, weight, balance and ergonomics, for me, is also important. I could never hold the tiny 7x Curio steady enough to enjoy them, but have had no problem with my 8x VP, which...

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

What do you mean by "boosted"? Forgive my ignorance if this should be obvious to me.

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

For all your fussing about size, it is quite funny you bought the 10x42 Nl. Will it fit into your shirt pocket or any pocket, for that matter? Obviously, you missed the magnification, not to mention the AFOV that the Curio couldn't give you in both regards. You must have been blown away by the...

How do you feel about your NL 8x42 a year or two down the line?

While an 7x42Nl with an AFOV of 60 could be made, the difference from the 8x42 Nl having an APOV of 69 would be substantial. When I compare my 8x25 VP that has an AFOV if 60, to my 8 x 42 Nl, the difference in immersiveness is startling. Perhaps, the difference would seem, even more so, with...

How do you feel about your NL 8x42 a year or two down the line?

I doubt there is any good reason to add a 7x version to the Nl lineup. It might not even be possible. What primarily differentiates the Nls from other binos is AFOV. 7x for the same objective size would come at the expense of the AFOV that gives all the Nls their trademark, immersive...

Very Impressed by the Curio 7x21

Tenex, I totally agree that it is worthwhile holding the VP against the orbit near your brow, whether you have issues with blackouts or not. For me, perhaps, stability was the more important benefit of holding my small binoculars that way. There is no extra effort for me holding the VP against...

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

Perhaps, you should, even though it isn't necessary. . Because of their tiny size, this technique could help steady them, if that was an issue for you.

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

I would guess that Dennis considers a binocular a true pocket one, only if it fits into a shirt pocket. It would seem that fittting into any other pocket, besides a shirt picket, doesn't count in his book. Perhaps, he's right but only if he were to call Curios "shirt pocket binoculars"...

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

Not everyone wears shirts with pockets, do they? (With fewer smokers, summer knit shirts often have no pockets.) Furthermore, I don't wear knit shirts or jeans, yet I CAN fit the VPs into my slacks pocket. An 8x32 or 8 x 30 Cl won't fit in any pocket easily, will it? Moreover, if you have...

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

You should try the 8x 25 VP. Don't rule it out just because the 10x25 VP didn't work for you. The 10x25 VP with its smaller exit pupil, makes it a bit more finicky with eye placement, with or without glasses. BTW, when using my 8x25 VP without glasses, the top edge of the extended eye cup...

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

I am curious, (pun intended) why a compact bino needs to fit into a shirt pocket, which are harder to find today except in dress shirts. Don't other pockets, we might have, work equally as well? My VPs fit easily into my sweater pocket or even my cargo pants pockets, unlike my bigger Nls. So...

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

Dennis, I lived with both. I hope you have. I can only give my experience. Each person can judge for himself. Roger Vine thought the VP was a better choice for birding because of its magnification and more immersive experience its larger AFOV privided. He favored the Curios for its size and...

Is there a CL 7x21 Curio in my future?

mfunnennel, I had the Curio but after 3 weeks of using them, exchanged them for the VPs. I liked them both, but the VPs won out. Why? 1.The Curios were TOO small for me. I found it very difficult to keep them steady, in spite of the 7x. The VPs were much easier to handle for me...
