Any experiences on Zeiss Victory pocket 8x25 vs SFL 8x30?

I have owned both the 8X25 VP and the 8X30 SFL and still own the latter. This choice is so dependent on personal preferences that it is hard to make a hard and fast recommendation. While some complain about the VP not being truly pocketable, I did not find that to be the case, and it worked in...

NL 8x42 eye relief for those with glasses

I have owned the 8X and 10X NLs in both 32mm and 42mm forms, and I still own the 8X32s. I also wear progressive eyeglasses with nearsightedness being my primary issue. All of those gave excellent eye box comfort for me, as I could easily see all the way to the edge of the FOV.

Case needed for el42 field pro?

I bought an NL side bag for my 8.5X42 ELs, and it fits perfectly. It is really well padded, better IMO than the original FP field bag.

After Kite Lynx 8x30 : Swarovski Pure NL 8x32 or 10x32?

I have owned both NL 32s and still have the 8X32. I found eye positioning easier with the 8, and overall viewing comfort is excellent with my eyeglasses. I also found the wider field of view of the 8 to feel more immersive. But ultimately it really depends on where you observe as to whether...

    Eyepiece 1.25" Wide angle?

I currently have a Kowa 883 which will take an adapter for 1.25-inch eyepieces. I previously had a Meopta Meostar S2 that also took an adapter for Astro eyepieces. In both cases I used a variety of eyepieces, including Pentax XWs, Morpheus, and others without any issue of vignetting or failing...

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

Birdwatching dot com store has large discount codes for all of the 8 and 10X Conquests. The 8X32 Conquest HD has a $300 discount, which I would be all over if I didn’t already have SFLs.

    Mid-level 10x50 (Maven B6) vs Alpha 10x42 (Noctivid)

I currently own the 10X42 Noctivid, and I have previously owned Swarovski 10X50 and 12X50 ELs, 10X42 NLs, and the Zeiss 10X42 Victory SF. If your primary interest is daytime use as opposed to astronomy use, I do not see any advantage in a 10X50 over an alpha 10X42. I will say that I let my...

    New midsized Razor UHDs

The specs remind me a bit of the 8X32 Zeiss SFs, at least in terms of size, weight and FOV. They are currently available from Sport Optics in Louisiana at a bit of a discount from the $1450; I am currently trying to look away LOL.

Those images are stunning. Thanks for sharing.

Leica Noctivid 8x42 design flaws and review - owners please check

I just checked this. That is a remarkable price, not much more than what I paid a year or so ago for like-new used green Noctivids. The Amazon listing references The Leica Store, but indicates shipping is from Fast Ship Direct. My guess is that these are grey market, which likely would limit...

    Binoculars w/ Glasses

I have been nearsighted all of my life and now wear progressives. I nearly always wear eyeglasses when using binoculars. I have found the following to give excellent eye box comfort, allowing me to see all of the way to a sharp field stop with my glasses: Swarovski ELs 8X32, 8.5X42 and 10X50...

    Eyecup diameter, Zeiss pockets

My answer of “eyeballing distance” was probably not clear enough. What I was saying is that I was estimating (eyeballing) the distance from the eyepiece glass to the top of the eyecup. I wear eyeglasses when I use binoculars, and to me the 16.5mm eye relief that Zeiss claims seems about right...

    Eyecup diameter, Zeiss pockets

For the Zeiss 8X25 VP: Eyecup diameter is 32.4mm Eyecup length is 20mm Eyeballing distance from glass to end of eyecup I get 12mm.

Advice for first (high-end) binoculars : Safari & Birding

Given the incredible views you can get on safari as well as the need to move quickly at times to get the view (from the truck/Jeep), my recommendation would be away from the 8X25 VPs, as good as those are. While they are great to carry everywhere, I do not consider the smaller exit pupil to be...

Advice on a good 12x50+ that won't break the bank

I just saw that ad for the 12X50 SE on Cloudy Nights yesterday. If I didn’t have an 12X50 EL arriving very shortly I would have been all over the Nikon. I doubt any competitor near that price would be as good.

    Recommend USA Zeiss dealers

I have used Sport Optics, EuroOptic and Birdwatching.com, all with excellent service. I will note that the latter shop does not charge sales tax to most states, which may or may or not matter to you.
