    Afocal: Can it be forced any sharper?

    I have a Vortex "Viper" 65 HD, coupling a DSLR to the e.p. I'm struggling a bit with consistent results, but have had some very nice luck using 2 different DSLR macro lenses (legacy Vivitars from gosh knows the 1980's?). The f/2.8 performs best, it's a 35-80 zoom. My working theory of the moment...

    Extreme Digiscoping

    That's a very fine shot of a Belted Kingfisher (tough subjects!). I'm very impressed with the resolution of the shot, it speaks well to both the 2x TC as well as the 400mm lens. 800mm is some reach, but you still had to be hiding somewhere closeby to pick up that Kingfisher! Just so you know...

    I just picked up a Vortex Viper 65mm spotter... Quickly: The 18mm eye relief with the kit ep seemed marginal to me, but it *does* work with the 50mm "normal" lens on our DSLR. But it might not work with my daughter's Powershot G11. So I find out, Vortex doesn't sell significantly better ep's...
