    Canvasback? Laguna Vista, TX, USA

Thank you for the description of the males. I hope to see one.

    Canvasback? Laguna Vista, TX, USA

I posted the photo with the Redhead for size comparison, but the Canvasback, usually one female, has arrived the past 2 winters, with and tends to stay with a group of Redheads. Thank you.

    Canvasback? Laguna Vista, TX, USA

These ducks seem to have the characteristics of Canvasback but when one came in last year I was told it was actually hybrid domestic, so please ID them for me. Thank you

Please ID 3 warblers, Laguna Vista, Texas, USA

I saw these birds on the L V Nature Trail this morning and please find 1 photo of the first bird, 2 each of the 2nd and 3rd birds. One bird is somewhat hooded like a McGillivray and one has yellow feet like a Blackpoll but other features don't match field guide photos. Thank you.

ID Hummingbirds in Laguna Vista, TX, USA

I have 2, I think different, hummingbirds coming to my feeders at our house, and this morning I went to Blind #3 on our Nature Trail and photographed 2 others.Photos 1 and 2 are each from our house and 3 and 4 were at the Nature Trail, one ID's as an Anna's. Thank you for your IDs.

Please ID 2 birds from this morning, Laguna Vista, TX, USA

I guess that these sandpipers are Western and Spotted. One flycatcher may be a Wood-pewee. Thank you.

ID 2 egrets, Holly Beach Rd, Laguna Vista, TX, USA

Thank you for your reply. When I watched the larger bird move I was certain it was a White-morph but other comments disagreed. I wondered about it not having a pink bill but have not found a reference to bill coloring as a juvenile. I appreciate your interest and input.

ID 2 egrets, Holly Beach Rd, Laguna Vista, TX, USA

I understand, and I went back to see if I had any other photos where they were closer and I did not. Thank you.

ID 2 egrets, Holly Beach Rd, Laguna Vista, TX, USA

I can easily identify Reddish Egrets, white and red, but in this photo there seems to be a White-morph and a Snowy, except the smaller bird, with yellow feet, has a very large bill, and the larger bird has yellow lores. What do you think? Thank you

Thank you for all the details in your response.

BtGreen or Townsend's, Laguna Vista, TX, USA

I watched 2 warblers in bad light in a leafy tree this afternoon. I cannot say my poor photos are of either one or of each. Hope there is enough information for someone to tell which one or both are in the photo and what features point to the ID. All photos could be either warbler based on...

Please ID flying shorebird, South Padre Island, TX, USA

Thanks for the ID, and the humor. I know them standing up but they look so different in flight.

Please ID flying shorebird, South Padre Island, TX, USA

I saw 2 of these birds flying past the Birding Center this morning and do not recognize them. The orange feet should be a help but I don't find an image with them. Thank you.

Blue Grosbeak? Sheepshead lots, South Padre Island, TX, USA

I first thought this bird was a bunting, but reviewing the photos I see a very large bill and rufous head and band at top of wingbar. Id please. Thank you.

Which terns are these? South Padre Island flats, Texas, USA

I agree. I always look for the yellow tip, and there were other terns in a group that did have it. This is the first I have heard of "Cabot's" terns. I did not recognize the Least and I usually do. Thank you.

Which terns are these? South Padre Island flats, Texas, USA

I know the bird on the left is a Royal, but not sure about the center bird with black edges on wing, and bird on right either Forster's or Sandwich? Thank you

Need Ids for 2 birds, Laguna Vista, TX USA

Thank you. Of course! Clay-colored Thrush. I just didn't see it but I knew the bill was familiar.

Need Ids for 2 birds, Laguna Vista, TX USA

Today while on Laguna Vista Nature Trail I saw this bird on the base of a tree then go into a puddle below it. Light was dark and this bird does not seem familiar to me. I guess the flycatcher is a Trail's. Thank you.

    Fort Davis, Texas, USA

Thank you so much. I had been told that both Cassin's and Western are in that area but Cassin's is the lifer for us. Would you tell me what features confirm that identification for you? I know to look for the white edges on the tail for Western but this bird seemed to have those edges as well.

    Fort Davis, Texas, USA

I hope these photos might show enough features of a Cassin's Kingbird. The bird was working a grassy area near the historical fort area and with traffic I was not able to hear any vocalization, however the throat and chest seem quite dark. In some photos the tail may show a white edge while in...
