    Could the Goose to the left of the Bar-headed Goose be a Barnacle Goose? At the time I dismissed it as another hybrid but on reflection maybe not. Apologies for the poor quality photo. Many thanks.

    Must be the time of year for strange ducks, saw this one this morning on Castle Lake, Bishop Middleham, County Durham. Sorry for the awful photograph, distance and bright sunshine didn't help. This one had the body size and structure of a male Tufted Duck but the head reminded me of a female...

    Opinions sought from the gull experts on this individual please. I.D. features that are not apparent from these poor photo's include yellow-legs (obviously), a darker mantle colour than Herring Gull but not as dark as LBb Gull (both of which were near this bird offering a good comparison), only...

    Hi, spent an hour and a half at the Wildfowl & Wetlands this morning, seen were Redshank (90), Snipe (6), Bullfinch (30), Grey Wagtail (1), Mallard (200+), Shelduck (12), Tufted Duck (6), Goldcrest (2), Goldfinch (4), Teal (4), Heron (6), Lapwing (1), Cormorant (2).
