    UK Birding Autumn 2016

The Saturday just gone I was with my RSPB Local Group from Newcastle Upon Tyne up at Holy Island by coach and it was the best birdwatching day I've had for over at least 30 years. There where lots of rarities galore and I can't even remember all.the different birds. I had to rely on some of the...

Biggest WOW binoculars you have ever looked through?

The binocular that gives me the wow factor is the Zeiss 8x42 HT Binoculars as since I bought them approx 2 years ago the picture is so sharp, very bright colours and still excellent, clear and sharp with bright colours even at dusk when it's starting to get dark. Ian.

Mining application for open cast mining at Druridge Bay

Just out of interest do you believe in climate change caused by man? Ian.

Mining application for open cast mining at Druridge Bay

That's why Druridge Bay opencast mining shouldn't be started, as that would be one of the causes of climate change and don't say it's true as there is a big majority saying that is a cause of climate change by a big majority and there are hundreds of articles about that on the Internet with...

Mining application for open cast mining at Druridge Bay

The Dutch parliament has decided to close down it's coal industry as help towards climate change according to the environmental section of The Guardian.. I think it would be a good thing if the UK parliament did the same here. Ian.

Talk about the next 5 years at Saltholme at my local RSPB Group.

Probably the most interesting talk at my RSPB Local Group indoor meeting I've ever had, that was held on Tuesday of this week since I joined my RSPB Group over 3 and a half years ago. It was about plans for the RSPB reserve at Saltholme in the county of Cleveland within the next 5 years and...

    Paramo Sale at Minsmere

It's the same with the RSPB On-Line Shop as well. I bought my waterproof jacket approx 2 years ago or a little less for £330.00 and now find the RSPB On-Line shop are selling that same jacket that I bought now at £220.00, of which I'm not very happy about. |>:(| Ian.

How long should Zeiss service take?

You would think all major binocular company's would have repair centres in most country's, so you don't have to send then abroad like for Zeiss Binoculars. If you want a TV repaired you don't have to wait for it being repaired out of your own country. The same with Apple iPhones or iPads or...

Mining application for open cast mining at Druridge Bay

One reason the mining shouldn't go on at Druridge Bay is that mining is one of the things that shouldn't be happening as mining fossil fuel is one of the biggest things that causes climate change and I know of people who think the same as me. Ian

new petition re driven grouse shooting

I must asked you Adam a very simple question. Do you actually love the birdlife and other wildlife around you or do you enjoy shooting Game Birds that you keep defending more than protection for other type of wildlife and birdlife? Ian.

new petition re driven grouse shooting

Thanks I found it. I see Ian Botham and co are trying to get Chris Packham sacked from the BBC and the worrying thing the Daily Mail says that the BBC are having an investigation about this. Although I don't normally believe anything the Daily Mail says. I do know public opinion is behind Chris...

    A Case Against The RSPB

I do know at least that there is one of the 3 Northern England regional offices in Newcastle Upon Tyne and I am a member of the Newcastle Upon Tyne RSPB Group. But as you say no major RSPB reserve near Newcastle and I've never had a clear answer why that is, from the RSPB after emailing them. Ian.

    A Case Against The RSPB

Living in Gateshead a few miles from Newcastle Upon Tyne I often wondered why. I've emailed the RSPB about this and they've never been very clear why the lack of RSPB reserves in North East England apart from Cleveland. So without any transport of my own, to visit Saltholme from Newcastle has to...
