- Ploceus flavipes
Identification
12 cm (4¾ in).
- Black overall plumage
- White iris
- Brown vent
- Yellow legs and feet
Female duller than the male and lacks green sheen
Juvenile: brownish overall with faint yellow collar and olive on belly and vent. Pale flesh legs.
Distribution
Africa: found only in north-eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (Ituri Forest).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
This species has in the past been named Yellow-legged Malimbe (Malimbus flavipes) but is now considered to belong in genus Ploceus.
Habitat
The occupy the canopy of lowland forests.
Behaviour
Diet
There is little information, but it is presumed their diet consists of insects, including caterpillars.
