30cm. Blue-black above, white below and on rump, bright red bill, feet and eye ring, deep orange iris.
Distribution
Taxonomy
Caridonax fulgidus has two subspecies:
- C. f. fulgidus; and
- C. f. gracilirostris.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests and moist montanes.
Behaviour
The diet includes insects and their larvae.
They excavate a nest tunnel in an earth bank.
