Overview
One of the larger of the Freisan Islands at 16x5 km. Apart from cars owned by the 950 residents, vehicles cannot be taken on to the island.
The island consists mostly of shifting sand dunes and salt marshes, the rest is agricultural farmland.
Birds
Notable Species
Gulls, terns, spoonbills and harriers, all breed in good numbers.
Many species of wader use the salt marshes for feeding during their winter migration.
