Identification

23 cm

• Green upperside with few yellow specs reaching to the nape; separated from yellow on crown and auriculars by narrow dusky line
• Olive-dusky green face surrounded by yellow on crown, auriculars and connected to the yellow on underside
• Most of underside yellow with dark green barring; mostly green on rear underside
• Yellow-green underwing coverts
• Orange-red bill
• Pinkish eye-ring
• Pale orange eye

Distribution

South-east Asia: found on the Sula Islands (Taliabu, Seho and Mangole) in Indonesia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Formerly included in Yellow-and-green Lorikeet / Citrine Lorikeet together with Yellow-cheeked Lorikeet.
Formerly placed in genus Trichoglossus.

Habitat

Forest and edge in hilly regions but less commonly found to sea level or higher in the mountains. May enter open areas in search of flowering trees.

Behaviour

Seen in flocks at some times of the year but in pairs or singly at others (breeding season?). Presumably feeds from flowers of species similar to those sought by Yellow-cheeked Lorikeet.
