Distribution

Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Taxonomy

Formerly considered conspecific with Barusan Cuckoo-Dove and Enggano Cuckoo-Dove.
Two subspecies recognized:

• M. a. emiliana:

• Krakatau, Java, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores and Paloe islands

• M. a. megala:

• Kangean Islands (off northeast Java)
