Distribution
New Guinea and Indonesia.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized[1]:
- N. m. musschenbroekii:
- Vogelkop Mountains (western New Guinea)
- N. m. major:
- Snow Mountains to Huon Peninsula and Owen Stanley Range
Habitat
Mid-level montane forests and forest edges.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes fruit, berries, hard seeds, eucalyptus flowers and caterpillars.
