Identification

Length 10-12 cm (4-4¾ in)

  • Small, plain brown,
  • Pale grey crown
  • White tip to tail

Distribution

Africa: found in southern Sudan, southern Ethiopia, northern Uganda, northern and western Kenya and north-central Tanzania.

Habitat

Dry acacia bush, scrub, croplands.

Behaviour

Diet

Their varied diet consists of grass seeds and insects, including grasshoppers, beetles, termites and caterpillars.
