This island nation is a part of the Micronesia region in the Western Pacific Ocean. It comprises more than 600 islands with approximately 700km2. It is divided in four states:

  • Yap
  • Chuuk
  • Pohnpei
  • Kosrae

The number of bird species is low but many endemic species are found.
