- Clytoceyx rex
Identification
33cm. Heavy, short and broad bill. Dark head with rufous stripe behind eye, white throat, brown iris, rufous neck collar, brown bill with paler mandible, pink brown feet and rufous underparts. Both sexes are similar. The male has a dark bluish tail while female's rufous. The young has an adult-like plumage with scale-patterned feathers.
Distribution
New Guinea (hills to nearby lowlands).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Behaviour
It find its food from the mud or moist ground. The diet includes earthworms, snails, beetles, lizards and insects.
