West Africa: Sierra Leone to northern Angola, Zaire
East Africa: Uganda, Kenya to eastern Tanzania

- B. m. musicus (feminina, pallidiventris):
- Sierra Leone to northern Angola, Zaire, Uganda and north-western Tanzania
- B. m. changamwensis:
- B. m. clarens:
- Southern Malawi to eastern Zimbabwe and Mozambique
Habitat
Dry and moist lowland forests and moist montane forest up to altitude of 1500 m.s.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of arthropods and some small vertebrates.
Vocalisation
A loud whistle; whitu-whitu-whitu.
