Yellow-crowned Night Heron eating a Crab (Nyctanassa violacea)

This bird stalked little hermit crabs very slowly for over several minutes each before it lunges in on one and eats it whole. I would have liked a less distracting background, but that's where he was hunting.
Habitat
Mainly coastal areas including rocky shores, mudflats and mangroves. Also inland on lakeshores and riverbanks. Breeding in swamps and marshes
Location
Sanibel Island, Florida
Scientific name
Nyctanassa violacea
Equipment used
Nikon D300, 300mm f/2.8 w 1.4x TC
Nice one, every time I see one of your Sanibel Island bird images I get the urge to go back there again.
