Virginia Rail
My first time seeing this bird was yesterday. I have been hearing other birders at the marsh mentioning the Virginia Rail, and really wanted to get a look at one. I kept hearing their call, the crazy grunting. LOL. (I was familiarized to it through Merlin.) However, I never could find one. Stopped at the marsh on the way to work yesterday, and saw two. One, I startled, and it was a brief glimpse as it flew deeper into the reeds. The second one was this beauty. He was soaking up the sun, and treated me to a long observation. Lucky day, and worth my frozen fingers at 27*F.

Oh well done Joke... rails are so difficult to see (well at least our one is!!!)

Incidentally 'our' one sounds like a stuck pig when it calls LOL

You've a grand picture of this guy - very well done lad... it was well worth the frozen fingers, I think.
