Tui feeding on bloosom nectar (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae)

"Tui" the Maori name for Parson Bird. In this photograph we have one stretching to drink prunus blossom nectar in early spring. At times upto 30 birds were seen in this tree. They are very hard to show detail because of their dark plumage.
Habitat
Urban gardens
Location
Havelock North NZ
Date taken
31 August 2007
Scientific name
Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae
Equipment used
Canon 400D+Canon 70-300 zoom IS lens
Good shot - I remember when we first saw them in the sunlight on our trip to NZ a couple of years ago how dazzling the iridescence was.

Love the colours in this shot Rooky, too bad the bird is facing the other way.

What a lovely shot, great colours, what is that blue in the background?
Haven't seen anything like that for weeks! ;)
