Spectacled Caiman (Caiman crocodilus)

Spectacled Caiman (Caiman crocodilus chiapasius: Alligatoridae) Males average from 1.5-1.8 m (4.9-5.9 ft) while large ones can range from 2.0-2.5 m (6.6-8.2 ft) long. This is a large male. Females average 1.1-1.4 m (3.5-4.6 ft) but large females can reach 2 m (6.6 ft) long. Taken at night.

Habitat
Floodplain of Río San Carlos, Caribbean lowlands, humid rainforest with large areas cleared for agriculture at 39 m (128 ft) elevation. Margin of a lagoon below lodge.
Location
Laguna del Lagarto Lodge, northeast of Boca Tapada, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica near the Nicaraguan border
