Southern Giraffe (Giraffa giraffa)

I believe this is a male based on its long ossicones (skin and fur covered horns). Giraffe taxonomy is in flux. Traditionally only one species with nine subspecies was recognized. However new molecular results recognize four biological species. Under this classification, the giraffes in Southern Africa are the Southern Giraffe (G. giraffa), including two subspecies the Angolan (G. g. angolensis) and the South African giraffe (G. g. giraffa). The population in Namibia is the Angolan Giraffe which is currently listed as "vulnerable." In fact they have been nearly extirpated from Angola This subspecies has a white ear patch and the spotting pattern does not extend to the face. . Reference: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.2021.04.033
