Snow Goose "Blue Goose form, juvenile"
Snow Goose (Anser caerulescens) Juvenile. The dark morph known as the Blue Goose. Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, Grayson County, Texas, USA. The refuge is on the Big Mineral Arm of Lake Texoma which is formed by the damming of the Red River. An intermixing of the Blackland Prairie and Cross Timbers and Prairies vegetational areas. Standing in winter wheat field planted specifically for the wintering geese at ca. 189 m (619 ft) elevation.

He's really quite beautiful, isn't he Stanley. A rather handsome guy.

We don't have any 'blue' ones in The Opus as yet, so I'll try and sort out some pictures to add... think this will be one of them.

A very interesting bird. I've seen this "blue form" illustrated in field guides but rarely in photographs - and never in such detail as here. A very fine shot as usual Stanley.
