This is going to be a Manjeet-sized description! ;) I returned to Vndtberget sanctuary in northern Sweden, regarded as one of the most valuable untouched forests in my country. When driving my car, a squirrel ran across the road in front of me and I pushed the breaks as much as can be done and still drive safely. :eek!: The poor animal had made it if it had not decided to turn around in the last split second. Felt lousy about the incident and had a growing feeling the forest animals would sense I was a killer and stay away from me. :-C My fears seemed to come true as the two squirrels I met climbed in horror to the top of the trees and hided behined large chunks of lichen. And the roaming tits went past me like an invisible cloud heard but not seen. :flyaway: Even the Hazel Grouse were more afraid than last time not a chance of a shot. Had to contend with shooting lichen and the reflections in the small forest lakes. It was a sunny, cold and quiet day with frost still on the ground. All of a sudden a Siberian Jay sat in a tree 10 meters away it is a completely soundless bird in flight. There were two of them and they were hunting moths in the twigs around the lake. In spite of its size, it manoeuvred very skillfully in pursuit of the moths very different from the other birds in the Crow family. Unfortunately they moved on too fast for me to get any desent shots, but one of the birds returned towards me and started hunting as close as 5 meters from me, showing no fear at all. It kept on for a minute or two and now and then looked curiously at me, and I almost was too captivated to take photographs. But the bird had decided I should get some before it moved on! You cant help falling in love in the bird under those circumstances :loveme: no wonder our ancestors made up all those stories about the siberian jay leading our souls to the right places(only cropped some pixels to the left)
