Scavenging ibis (Eudocimus albus)

Eudocimus albus - ibis blanco - white ibis

This white ibis is scavenging fish cleanings. It is built for probing worm and shrimp burrows, but obviously can take advantage of other opportunities.
Habitat
Marine
Location
Bahia Magdelena, BCS, Mxico
Date taken
6/27/2008
Scientific name
Eudocimus albus
Equipment used
Sony a700/ Sigma 170-500
Tom: it is my experience that the ibis might play with his food, but (as you pointed out) his bill is not equipped for such duty, and he will either give up and drop it, or have it snatched away by a seagull.
