Scarlet Tanager orange variant (Piranga olivacea)

Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox for winning the World Series for the first time in 86 years. Way to go, Sox! Hey St. Louis, time to fire the tanager (couldn't resist one more horrible pun). Speaking of firing the manager . . . beating the Yankees, winning the Series . . . can redefeating Bush be next?

I would have used this bird in my red bird series if only it was red. Male Scarlet Tanagers, fairly common but declining neotropical migrants in eastern North America, are usually deep red in breeding plumage, but some are bright orange. Several more shots are at:
