Red Avadavat (Amandava amandava)

Hi, this is a very rare sighting in Singapore, it does not exist in our two checklists for Birds of Singapore, and yet there had been sightings made here and there. Apparently it was introduced into Singapore in 1880s, but since then a pair was seen in 1987, and three sightings made in 1988, after that no ne that I know of. Checked OBC's images, they are mainly from India, one each from Malaysia, Thailand, and Burma.

Any further information much appreciated.

Thanking you

I think this one has been hiding and doing some painting [it looks as though it has been splashing paint over itself].

Great photo.

I had a look on Wikipedia and it does state that threre is an introduced population in Singapore.

You certainly made the most of your opportunity a wonderful photo of this beautiful little bird.
