Ptarmigan Changing to Winter Plumage

Taken thru a bus window in Denali National Park - and I was on the wrong side of the bus!! 8-) A Red Fox had been stalking a covey (right word??) of Ptarmigans but our bus scared him away - the birds could care less about the bus and simply stood in the road blocking our way.
