Mostly White Rock Doves Hawaii (Columba livia)

I found it strange when I first noticed that almost all the pigeons (Rock Doves) I saw in the parks in Hawaii were all white or at least partially whites. I did some on line Reading and found that the most accepted theory is that it comes from all the white doves that have been released as part of weddings over the years and they have mixed with the local Rock Doves and because of that white has become the predominant color.
As seen in this group photo where 4 are all white and the other is white with black.

That's so interesting Ken and what a great picture you've got of this little group.

Great to see in a sandy setting, Ken; interesting info too, and would make sense I guess

They're very pretty and much whiter than the one I had at my house. Nice shot.
