Mini Moorhen begging (Gallinula chloropus)

And then there were the Moorhen and Coot chicks - so ugly they're absolutely adorable. Just look at this one waving those stubby, naked little wings :loveme: I watched these chicks alongside another birder. She said she'd lived near this reconstructed wetland park for 30 years and this was the first year she'd seen the Moorhen chicks. The Moorhens had been quite shy up to now, but were slowly getting bolder. This little family was staying somewhat hidden in the reeds, but quite close to shore and weren't stressed about being seen now and then through gaps in the foliage.
